New England Wooden Boat Events

New England hosts some terrific wooden boat events throughout the season. The traditional small craft of our northern shores tend to draw
a lot of attention. You are sure to gather some inspiring ideas from other small boat enthusiasts and make some valuable connections.

  • Small Reach Regatta
Styled after the "raids" in Europe, this three day event is scheduled for August 14th-17th in Brooklin Maine. In it's second year for 2008, this promises to become one of the best wooden boat events for rowing and sailing adventure in downeast Maine.

  • Salem Antique and Classic Boat Festival
Classics from the 1890s to the present will be on exhibit for the 26th year late in August at the Hawthorne Cove Marina in Salem MA. A lively weekend schedule of music and awards finishes with the Parade of Boats.

  • Gloucester Schooner Festival
From tall ships to 20 foot sailboats, the Gloucester Schooner Races will bring in boats from Maine to Florida for this spectacular event.
August 29th-31st marks the 24th year.

  • Trails and Sails Weekend-September 26-28
A weekend of over 200 individual activities including walking tours, rowing and sailing. Organized by the Essex National Heritage Commission to celebrate our wonderful history and lands held in the public trust.

  • Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival
October 3rd-5th marks the 26th annual event held at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Micheals Maryland.
Expect over 200 small boats built for sail and oar, kayaks, canoes and vintage watercraft. The Museum will host workshops and boatbuilding demonstrations together with activities for all ages.

  • Windjammer Weekend
Camden Maine will host festivities for the 14th annual Windjammer weekend. Tours and cruises are offered aboard Schooners available for charter.
