2008 Small Reach Regatta
This year's Small Reach Regatta was blessed with fair weather, fresh winds and a spirited group of sailing, rowing and paddling enthusiasts. After a long spell of daily rain and persistent thunderstorms, the weather broke to welcome the captains and crew of 58 small craft, gathered to celebrate this four day event. Most of these fine craft are inspired by traditional work boats, from designs that evolved from early times. There is an art to building them, as well as sailing them, that resonates well with all who have gone before us. Today they prove just as worthy for our pure enjoyment. Many thanks go out to Tom Jackson, senior editor of WoodenBoat Magazine, the DownEast Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association and the many other people who's efforts went into making this fine weekend possible.
